Talking about my weight has always been an issue for me, I couldn’t just go round telling people “hey I’m Shannon and I’m overweight and proud” because in the real world I’m not proud, quite frankly I hate my body.
Yeah, I’ve made bad decisions in the past, I’ve pigged out on food when in reality I was just bored. Now that I’ve gotten older I have realized that yes my diet wasn’t the healthiest, I would lose weight and then put it all back on again…Like a YoYo basically, And let’s be honest I do enjoy my food and drink far too much for my own good.
It has been 6 weeks since I joined Slimming World and its safe to say surprisingly I am really enjoying it! I’ve lost a Total of 9 Pounds in just over a month, which is incredible, yes it’s not the biggest weight loss and I won’t win a world record for it, but for me, It has boosted my confidence that I can do it and if you would have told me 6 weeks ago that I would be 9 Pounds Lighter I wouldn’t have believed you.
I know everyone is different but for me the key elements that help me shift this weight off are:
- My Friend Vikki, Every Thursday is “fat” club night as I call it, we go in together, get weighed together and if we have good weeks we talk about what we have done/and can continue doing, even if we have bad weeks we pick each other up and help each other keep motivated.
- Food Diary’s – I really enjoy filling out my food diary each week, it not only helps me remember to think about what I am putting in my mouth but also helps with picking the right foods/ingredients from the wrongs. I have popped a template below so you have a feel of how I would fill my days out.3. Brad (My Other Half) He keeps me motivated by sticking by me each week, we go to the gym together, and try new recipes/cook together. He has told me he is seeing a difference not just in how I look but my confidence too! I secretly think he is enjoying the slimming world recipes just as much as me!
Seeing how far I have come in 5 weeks, Only being 5 pounds away from a STONE – a bloody stone lost! I know I can do it now, I have the motivation, The right frame of mind and the most supportive family and friends ever!
So if you ever feel like you are stuck in a rut, you CAN do it. Believe in yourself and you will succeed. Even if you fancy a chat send me a message on my twitter smaychambers or my Instagram smaychambers As I’m more than happy to help, even if you just need a chat about your worries or you are having a crap week I’m here.
Stay tuned, I hope you enjoyed my first blog post regarding my weight-loss journey, I hope you pop back over soon!
